Collaborator Spotlight: East & Lane

“Each home has such a unique (visual) story and the inspiration I get from them is similar to what I’d get from traveling to another country”

Earlier this year, Quadrostyle partnered with lifestyle blogger Keyanna of East & Lane as she set out to renovate the rental kitchen of her charming, rustic country home and we could not have been more thrilled with the results! Her keen eye for design is truly something to aspire to.

If you haven’t already discovered her blog and Insta feed, please do—they are treasure troves of inspiration for your interior. But first, read this bite-sized interview with Keyanna to learn about her story, her style, her inspiration, and to find out which Quadrostyle designs are her favs!

Q: What led you to create East & Lane?

A: Like most "bloggers" I started my blog as a creative outlet to explore my love for interior design, DIY's, fashion, food, etc.

I live in a small, rural town that doesn't have a lot of arts/culture or creative opportunities. So I wanted my blog to be a place where people could find fun ideas and inspiration to create a life they love no matter where they live.

Q: In addition to running E&L, you are also a professional interior designer and photographer. Which of your passions came first and what was the path that led you to them?

A: I always feel a bit of imposter syndrome when people call me a "designer" because I didn't go to school for design. I’m completely self-taught. But without a doubt, Interior Design is my true passion.

Photography actually started out as a hobby for my blog—I wanted to feature cool interiors on my blog, so I taught myself how to use a DSLR camera and started taking pictures of houses. Then, a few local realtors and builders saw the photos on my blog and asked if I would take pictures of their listings and it grew from there.

Although photography is now my full-time job, interior design has my heart. I recently decided to slow down on photography so I can take on more design projects.

Q: How would you describe your personal style as a designer?

A: My design style is a mix of styles and is forever evolving...As of today, I would describe it as modern and laid-back with a bit of coastal and vintage vibes thrown in. But next week it may evolve into something totally different ;-)

Q: What inspires you?

A: Ironically, even though I want to cut back on photography in order to do more design, I actually feel most inspired when I'm shooting interiors. A home is such a sacred place--it's our sanctuary. And as a photographer, being able to step foot into so many sanctuaries is really an honor.

Each home has such a unique (visual) story and the inspiration I get from them is similar to what I’d get from traveling to another country—being able to see how other people live, how they've decorated, what they've collected and cherished over the years, and the story all their belongings tell truly inspires me.
